As most of you know, Sickle Cell Partners of the Carolinas is a patient support group comprised of working moms and dads and others who care deeply about the sickle cell community. We are always looking for ways to enhance what we do on behalf of patients and families affected by sickle cell disease. SCPOC has been talking about events for 2017 and the first item on our agenda is our signature conference, “Sickle Cell Disease… Let’s Talk About.” This year will be our fourth year offering a conference designed for patients, families and the community at-large. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 8am to 3pm for this engaging and informative conference.

Community Blood Drive on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 3-6pm. Please join the Steel Horses Motorcycle Club for a blood drive designed to help sickle cell patients and others in need. Address: Cycle Gear 11328 E. Independence Blvd. Matthews, NC 28105. Appointments will be available soon with the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas.
Sickle Cell App Focus Group: Pediatric patients from ages 13 to 17 are needed to give their opinion on a new app being developed for pediatric patients to assess their pain. Look for more information on this event which is slated for April 2017.
Quilts for Hospitalized Patients: Our outreach to the sickle cell community is ongoing as we continue to share the gift of quilts beautifully designed and handmade by the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Quilting Committee. If you are hospitalized or know someone who is hospitalized, please email email@example.com so that we can give the hospitalized patient a quilt. They are yours to keep and as always, your privacy will be respected.

The University City Turkey Trot: Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2017 WAKE… RUN…. FEAST! Join SCPOC for this awesome 5K walk/run that directly benefits our organization. Join fellow runners and walkers Thanksgiving Day for the 4th annual University City Turkey Trot 5K at The Fresh Market at 3024 Prosperity Church Road in Charlotte for all of University City to enjoy! After the race, cool down and enjoy a post-race mini-feast featuring food, drinks and music!
